Video game wallpaper time. I was originally going to post this down the road as part of a special beat-em-up week, but in celebration of the announcements of VIZ re-releasing subbed (and re-dubbing) Sailor Moon on DVD and Blu-Ray, I present wallpaper from Banpresto’s 1995 arcade game, Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. After consultation with my lovely wife, I can confirm that these battle pairings and general arrangements meet the Jet Wolf Seal of Approval.
Fans of the game will be aware that this is my most cheating-est wallpaper yet; you don’t even get to fight Jadeite and Nephrite in the game, they were only supposed to appear in cutscenes, and aren’t actually programmed to even do that (hiding out as unused images in memory), but the entire game throws continuity and timeline out the window, so you know what? I can too. Credit where credit is due: I utilized stuff from The Spriter’s Resource here, since there would be no way for me to get Jadeite or Nephrite without digging through the game’s graphical ROM and I just wasn’t up to the task this week.
How do you like your Usagi? Crying in the heat of battle, or triumphantly supporting the others through a Moon Healing Escalation? I’ve got you covered on both fronts–if you like this kind of selection, you can again thank Jet Wolf, since she thought it would be better to provide both options than just tell me which one she liked better like I asked her. As always, to get the full size image, click on the links below. The wallpaper can also be accessed from my online gallery.
